Every child deserves the opportunity to discover their talents and imagine a brighter future. At Bintikazini Foundation, we believe that practical skills combined with personal development can create lasting change.
Through the Hatua Njema Program, 35 children from an orphanage center participated in vocational tailoring training, mental health awareness sessions, and financial literacy education. For many participants, this was their first experience learning a practical skill that could one day become a source of income.
What the Children Learned
- Basic tailoring techniques
- Safe use of sewing equipment
- Simple clothing repairs
- Creative fabric design
- Personal confidence and teamwork
These practical lessons encouraged the children to express their creativity while developing valuable life skills.
Beyond Tailoring
The program was designed to support the whole child—not just teach a trade.
Participants also explored topics such as:
| Training Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Tailoring | Practical vocational skills |
| Mental Health | Building emotional well-being and confidence |
| Financial Literacy | Understanding saving, budgeting, and responsible money management |
This combination of learning experiences helped children recognize that their future is shaped by their choices, determination, and willingness to learn.
Why This Matters
Learning a skill is more than mastering a craft—it is discovering confidence, purpose, and the belief that a better future is possible.
For many of the children, completing their first tailoring projects became a proud achievement that demonstrated their ability to create something meaningful with their own hands.
